Coro di Signori, meaning ‘Chorus of Gentlemen’ in Italian, was formed in 2009 as the first branch of The Vocal Consort. Through this choir, TVC aims to explore choral music that is written specifically for male voices and hopes to spur the establishments of male choruses in Singapore. In Coro di Signori’s debut year, the choir competed in Orientale Concentus II International Choral Festival held in Hangzhou, China. The choir performed remarkably, clinching ‘Category Champions’ in the ‘Chamber Music’ category with a Gold Diploma. Following this success, Coro di Signori held its first full concert in December 2010.
Since then, Coro di Signori has been an important part of The Vocal Consort and has been heavily featured in our annual concerts. Of note is the 10th edition of A Voyage of Songs in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2013 where Coro di Signori not only managed to clinch ‘Category Champions’ in the ‘Equal Voices’ category, but also won the Festival Grand Prize, becoming the overall champions of the festival.
